National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)

NAHB exists to represent the building industry by serving its members and affiliated state and local builders associations. To achieve an overall mission of member satisfaction, NAHB concentrates on the following goals:

– The premier resource for industry information, education, research, and technical expertise

The Pennsylvania Builders Association

The Pennsylvania Builders Association is a non-profit statewide trade organization chartered in 1952. Affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders and a network of local associations throughout the state, PBA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of representatives from its local affiliates.

As the voice of more than 255,000 members and employees, the association represents all facets of the building and shelter industry by assisting local associations in directly serving the membership. Member firms are diverse in size, activities and locale, and include developers, remodelers, apartment owners, residential and light commercial builders, as well as subcontractors, suppliers, professionals, manufacturers and others related to the industry.

PBA is devoted to representing the needs of the building industry at the state level, and to providing products and services which enhance the effectiveness and professionalism of its local associations and members. Through PBA’s efforts, the building industry is better able to serve the community and provide consumers optimum quality and value for the housing dollar.

Through its members’ contributions of quality, affordable housing to the standard of a living in Luzerne County, the Building Industry Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania serves as the leader and spokesperson for the Building industry.

The Luzerne County Housing Partnership

The Luzerne County Housing Partnership’s mission is to be an influential catalyst for the revitalization of the Luzerne County Housing Market and to establish an event to aid in creating a fair and predictable building environment for the builder, residents and neighborhoods of Luzerne County. The Partnership is comprised of local, public and private agencies; financial and educational institutions; private corporations and County agencies.

 

The Institute for Public Policy & Economic Development

The Institute for Public Policy & Economic Development

A higher education partnership among, Keystone College, King’s College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, University of Scranton and Wilkes University, the Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development’s mission is to assist in the revitalization of cities, counties and states through the utilization of the center’s expertise and resources to develop more effective and efficient government. These include its member universities, colleges, and their respective faculties and students.

The Institute serves as a resource and consultant for communities, non-profits, education, and business to develop best practices, preparation of applied research, strategy development, and the process for its implementation.

These awards, memberships and affiliations show that we are devoted to playing an active role in the industry. We are dedicated to acquiring new techniques, practices and procedures that in turn enable us to design and manufacture an ever-improving product. Also, many of these organizations provide valuable insight into state regulatory and legislative issues so that we can stay up to date on issues and concerns. All of these benefits greatly assist the consumer by us not only providing a better product but also by us being pre-positioned for turns in the market.

The affiliation with NAHB’s green programs has given us a deeper insight into the green building process. It has allowed us to provide our builders and customers with information and details on eco-friendly building and ways that green building can benefit them both economically and environmentally. Also, it has given us a deeper understanding of the processes that must be in place so that we can provide a green home easily and affordability with the correct certifications. Ultimately, the NAHB Research Center reviews and certifies these processes.
